There are some companies that take this idea to an extreme (in a good way). https://itrevolution.com/product/a-radical-enterprise/ talks about them and how they have become successful in giving teams full accountability and ownership.

This feels so deep and profound that I cannot imagine the impact this could have on the work I do as a product manager.

I'll need to dig deeper and follow all the links, but I feel like I have found a treasure map.

Perhaps an organisation that achieved this level of maturity would truly be product led?

Really pertinent post John. In today's working environment there is an increasing spotlight on more transparent ways to measure value being delivered. I'm as big fan and proponent of investment-centric mindset and the behaviours that go with that. While sometimes sounding like a a rather worn vinyl, I trot out the adage, ' treat investment in your product like its your own money, coming straight from your wallet'.

Really great post John. The interesting thing is it's not that difficult in my experience for a product leader to take that step but its so rarely done. Why? Fear perhaps?
